Black Anarkali With Printed Pants

Last week, I had the pleasure to attend Sue Mue's new ready to wear collection launch and it was a real treat. Inspired by Rajasthan, the collection featured some beautiful clothes. What I loved about the clothes was how Rajasthani embroidery had been given a contemporary twist, so nothing looked too traditional. The outfit I chose for this shoot was an anarkali style jacket in raw silk with gota patti work and resham thread embroidery worn over a pair of printed pants. What I really liked was how the entire outfit was so light and how easy it was to move around in it. Furthermore, The printed pants gave the entire look a really modern touch. The structured high collar immediately attracted me to the jacket because I feel that gives out a very regal vibe. Shooting Indian outfits is a new territory for me, so I decided to go all out with the accessories. I recently discovered a jewellery label called Vaitaanika located in Shapurjaat, which boasts some stunning ethnic jewellery. The designer's cocktail ring collection is exquisite and features some fine craftsmanship. I selected this pretty maang teeka (which was a huge deal for me because the last time I wore one was when I got married), with delicate earrings and an oversized, green statement ring.

Shooting this look was tricky because the weather was constantly misbehaving. One minute it was sunny, the next, cloudy before starting to rain for a few minutes. So it turned out to be a mix of an indoor/outdoor shoot! Anyways, I was just relieved we managed to get some nice shots because the Dusit Devrana is just such a pretty hotel and it would have been a shame to come back without taking photographs in their property.

Some Thigh Baring Wrap Around Pants

In my previous post, I talked about this really cool new label I discovered, called The Revival Project. So when I was sourcing for Couture Week outfits, my first option was the checkered pant suit I featured a few days ago. However, when I was in talks with Chichouse.co, we weren't sure about the sizes so they asked me to pick something else as a backup so I chose another jacket and these black Kanchipuram silk wraparound pants. When the clothes came to me and I tired these super fun pants, I immediately decided I was wearing those for Rahul Mishra's show. What got me hooked on them apart from the comfort factor (it was like i was wearing nothing, literally!) was how because you sort of tie them up from the front and the back, when you move around, the pants automatically form a high slit on each side. Brands To Know - Mansur Gavriel

I've been wanting to talk about this super cool brand for a few months now, but somehow it just kept getting side lined with the reviews and the travelling and the god knows what! Anyways, Mansur Gavriel is a hip, new, New York city based label founded by two friends, Rachel Mansur & Floriana Gavriel who design handbags that are currently the biggest rage amongst the fashion flock. Everyone from Karlie Kloss to Sussie Bubble to Eva Chen have been spotted with a Mansur Gavriel.

The bags come in three main shapes - tote, bucket and backpack and are pretty much sold out everywhere especially the bucket bags. The silhouettes are relatively simple and minimalist with a teeny tiny logo in gold. The black models come with the contrast coloured interiors and are so just so beautiful to look at. What I also love is the price factor. It's very rare to find a bag made from superior quality Italian leather and made in Italy that too to have such an affordable price tag. No, it doesn't have to set you back over one lac rupees. Try a range of 40,000 - 80,000 INR depending on the model. 

Bags that are made in Italy, highly coveted and affordable; it's a no brainer why these babies are sold out! Oh by the way, there's a stunning white bucket bag still available on net-a-porter. That was just an FYI :) I've put myself on the wishlist for the red one and am really keeping my fingers crossed!

 

Brands To Know - Perrin Paris

As a self-proclaimed professional instagram stalker, on a particular day, I was as usual stalking random people on instagram, you know doing my thing. Whilst checking out pictures from Sutton Stracke's profile when she was in Paris for the Haute Couture shows, I noticed her and friends were posting images of a clutch from a certain luxury brand which I wasn't aware of. Perrin Paris. The ladies were wearing these very edgy glove inspired clutches and me being a crazy bag lady had to find out more. I started doing some research on Perrin Paris and am so in love with the brand now. So I thought I would blog about it and share it with you guys because our Delhi ladies LOVE their bags.

Perrin Paris is one of the oldest luxury glove makers around. Founded in 1893, their gloves became extremely popular in the twenties and they were actually one of the few brands to have boutiques around the world. Eventually, due to the lack of demand for gloves, the family closed the brand. They did however continue to manufacture and supply leather to other haute couture houses thereby safeguarding the family's tradition and techniques.

A few years ago, Michel Perrin (CEO of the brand) and his wife Sally decided to revive the brand by launching a line of handbags along with their gloves. Their bags, much like their gloves, are all handmade and a result of beautiful (and painstaking) craftsmanship involving techniques that have been passed down generations spanning over a century.  Only the finest leather and exotic skins are used to create their products. It's not only their quality that is a class apart, it is also their designs which are extremely unique and innovative.

As I check out their handbags online on their website, I am completely obsessed with each and every one of them especially their clutches and the super edgy ball bag. Their glove inspired clutches come in three different types Le Zip, Capitale and Cabroilet and make a serious statement. Skull, studs, laser cut spider web, leopard print, metallic and exotics; these clutches have got me hooked and I'm just dying to get my hands on one (its a simultaneous bag fund situation currently).Their very avant-garde and architectural Riva Ball Bag is another favourite. Made out of woven leather and grosgrain, and inspired by retro wicker baskets it comes with a leather interior pouch to store all your belongings. I don't think there will ever be the need to make small talk when you walk in to a party with this bag! It's an immediate conversation starter.

Even though the brand has been revived, the family doesn't feel the need to expand in a rush. The leather goods are produced in limited quantities simply because they want to ensure that quality is never compromised. A point one has to agree with. As long as they ship internationally from their website, that's all that matters to me!
